The Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) is using Intermec’s RFID tags and readers to provide access control at our border crossings with Canada and Mexico. The Nexus border crossing program automatically ties an RFID-embedded photo ID card to a security database for quick, flawless identity verification. The U.S. Army also uses RFID tags and readers to provide secure, multi-level access to its bases. Windshield tags allow vehicles to be automatically tracked through the entrance gate, and into secure areas on the base. Since entry is tied to the host system in real time, authorizations can be changed instantly to meet varying security levels. Intermec’s RFID technology is based on global standards, ensuring interoperability and investment protection.
